Race organizers of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge have unveiled an updated route for the annual cycling extravaganza set to take place in February 2023. The new route promises to deliver an even more exciting experience for the thousands of participants while continuing to showcase the best of Dubai.

New Starting Point

In a significant change, the race will now begin from Dubai Festival City rather than the usual starting point of Dubai World Trade Centre. “We wanted a change of scenery for riders and moving the starting line to Festival City opens up new vistas for participants at the beginning of the ride,” said Paul Ranford, Head of Events at Spinneys. The spacious waterside venue will provide more room for the massive rider registration and warm-up areas.

Coastal Scenery and City Views

The first half of the route will continue along Dubai’s coastline past Jumeirah Beach Residence and into Old Dubai. However, instead of turning inland, riders will now be treated to scenic coastal views to Dubai Marina.

“Staying by the water for longer allows participants to enjoy Dubai’s spectacular coast on what is usually a very enjoyable section of the route,” added Ranford. Sweeping city views of the Dubai Marina skyline will provide dramatic backdrops during this stretch.

New Inland Route

After Dubai Marina, the route diverts inland but takes a different path compared to previous years. Riders will cycle through the lush greenery of Palm Jumeirah passing landmark residences en route to The Gardens and Downtown Dubai. This avoids the busy Sheikh Zayed Road section and provides a refreshing change of scenery cycling through the landscaped surroundings.

Finish at Dubai World Trade Centre

In a nod to tradition, the route will then loop back to finish at the familiar location of Dubai World Trade Centre. However, participants can look forward to fresh challenges on the slightly lengthened route totaling 92kms. “We believe the changes will make for an even more memorable experience for cyclists while keeping the spirit of community and achievement that the event is known for,” concluded Ranford.

Early response to the new Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge route has been overwhelmingly positive. With just over four months to go, anticipation is building for what promises to be the best edition of the annual cycling fest yet when the new route is unveiled on 26th February 2023.

Conclusion

The changes to the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge route for 2023 seem aimed at enhancing the overall experience for participants while continuing to showcase the best sights Dubai has to offer. Starting at the spacious Festival City and following an altered inland route provides fresh perspectives along with scenic coastal views.

These modifications maintain the core community spirit and achievement of completing the 92km distance that have made the event such a popular annual fixture. With the new starting point and route unveiling some refreshing new challenges, excitement is building for cyclists taking on the revamped Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge next February.
